The types of wood used for this modern lamp are meranti and obeche. The meranti tree grows in south-east Asia. It’s typically dark reddish or purplish brown and the grain can be straight or interlocked. The obeche is native from Tropical West Africa. The shading is a light yellow with the grain interlocked with a medium to coarse surface.
