    The tall countess lamp consists of meranti and obeche. The meranti wood, native from Southeast Asia is pale yellowish-orange when freshly cut, aging to a golden yellow-brown. It has a coarse texture and the grain is sometimes interlocked. The obeche wood is native from Tropical West Africa and tends to be a pale yellow, with the sapwood not clearly differentiated from the heartwood. Colours darken slightly with age.
